There was also talk of extending the March 29 deadline, which would delay Brexit, as well as the floating of a second referendum, with the opposition Labour Party of Jeremy Corbyn appearing to now throw its weight behind that. Citizens and industries across the UK, including the banking, tourism and farming sectors, and many of whom rely on exporting products or bringing in goods from Europe, will have to adapt in a post-Brexit Britain, whether there is a deal with the EU or not. «Η κυβέρνηση δεν πρόκειται να ανεχθεί κάτι που θέτει την ένωση του ΗΒ σε κίνδυνο», τόνισε ο πρόεδρος του κυβερνώντος Συντηρητικού κόμματος, Μπράντον Λιούις.

Η Βρετανία δεν μπορεί να αποδεχθεί την πρόταση του Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ προκειμένου να υπερβαθεί το αδιέξοδο στις διαπραγματεύσεις για το Brexit, διότι θέτει εν αμφιβόλω την ενότητα του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου επιφυλάσσοντας διαφορετική μεταχείριση για τη Βόρειο Ιρλανδία, τόνισε ο πρόεδρος του κυβερνώντος Συντηρητικού κόμματος, Μπράντον Λιούις.

«Δεν πρόκειται να έχουμε μία συμφωνία που θα διακυβεύει την ενότητα του ΗΒ. Η πρόταση που εξέφρασε χθες ο Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ θα διακυβεύσει το συμπαγές της ένωσης», πρόσθεσε ο ίδιος, αναφορικά με την πρόταση του επικεφαλής διαπραγματευτή της ΕΕ για να παραμείνει η Βόρεια Ιρλανδία εντός του πλαισίου κανονισμών της Ένωσης, όσον αφορά την απουσία ελέγχων στα σύνορά της με την Ιρλανδία, ενώ η Βρετανία θα έχει το μονομερές δικαίωμα να αποχωρήσει από την τελωνειακή ένωση με την υπόλοιπη ΕΕ.
