Σύμφωνα με επιστημονικές εκτιμήσεις, χρειάζεται να εμβολιαστεί το 60-70% του γενικού πληθυσμού μιας χώρας ούτως ώστε να δημιουργηθεί ένα συμπαγές τείχος προστασίας από την πανδημία του κορωνοϊού, παρότι αυτό το ποσοστό σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις μπορεί να χρειαστεί να φτάσει ακόμη και το 80-85%.
Η μετάλλαξη Δέλτα έχει αλλάξει εντελώς τη μάχη κατά του ιού, κάνοντας την κούρσα των εμβολιασμών ακόμη πιο άμεση. Ισραήλ και ΗΠΑ ήταν οι χώρες που αρχικά οδηγούσαν τον υπόλοιπο πλανήτη όσον αφορά τα ποσοστά εμβολιασμένων, όμως έχουν χάσει τις πρωτιές που κατείχαν.
Ας δούμε ποιες χώρες βρίσκονται στην κορυφή του κόσμου με το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό εμβολιασμένων σε σχέση με τον γενικό πληθυσμό, ως το τέλος αυτής της εβδομάδας:
Ηνωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα: 73,4%
