Ένοπλες δυνάμεις της Ρωσίας έχουν συγκεντρωθεί κοντά στα σύνορα με την Ουκρανία και την κατεχόμενη Κριμαία, ωστόσο οι προθέσεις για επίθεση παραμένουν ασαφείς.
Το γεγονός ότι η Ρωσία έχει μεγαλύτερο στρατό από την Ουκρανία δύσκολα αποτελεί έκπληξη για τους περισσότερους, καθώς η διαφορά μεγέθους θυμίζει αναπαράσταση της βιβλικής αντιπαράθεσης ανάµεσα στον ∆αβίδ και τον Γολιάθ.
Το εάν ο Ρώσος Πρόεδρος Πούτιν θα πάρει την απόφαση να εισβάλει ξανά στη χώρα, μένει να φανεί. Αυτό που γνωρίζουμε, ωστόσο, είναι ότι υπάρχει μια νέα και σημαντική στρατιωτική συσσώρευση στη ρωσική πλευρά των συνόρων, οι διπλωματικές προσπάθειες έχουν αποτύχει και η Δύση εστιάζει επί του παρόντος στην προβολή της αλληλεγγύης απειλώνετας με τρομερές οικονομικές συνέπειες σε περίπτωση εισβολής.
