Vassilis Balanis is an executive leader combining analytical proficiency and a strategic mindset, with comprehensive, international business and policy experience both in the healthcare and life sciences industry. He has distinguished by an extraordinary record of tangible accomplishments, as a corporate executive, and strategy consultant, in multinational firms and national organizations, across a wide set of markets, sub-sectors, and functions.

Vassilis boasts innovative thinking, operational proficiency, market acumen, and interpersonal traits, and leads large-scale transformations and business planning for healthcare organizations in public and private sectors through strategic planning, development, access to new markets, and commercialization. He is competent in business transformation and leadership, multitasking distinct operations, adapting to diversity, excelling under pressure, leading with a clear vision, and building impactful relationships.

He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GPA Investment Group, driving growth for numerous companies across Greece, EU, UK, USA, Africa, China. He has served as CEO at the National Organisation for Quality Assurance in Health (AQAH S.A.) – the Health Regulatory Authority in Greece. He served as an advisor the National Organisation for Quality Improvement in the UK (NHS Improvement) where he led nationally digital transformation projects and the adoption of AI in the UK NHS. Vasilis has also led the integration and digital transformation of the largest Group of Hospitals in the UK (Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust), and the integration with the Primary Care services of the NW London Integrated Care System (ICS). In Greece, he has also advised the Government on AI adoption and led the integration of the HHG Hospitals, the largest Group of hospitals in Greece run by CVC Capital Partners. Vassilis has also extensive experience on the redesign of care pathways, and digital transformation projects at national level.

Vassilis also served as Visiting Professor on Healthcare & Pharma Policy at the SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy and speaker in International Forums. He is scholar in eminent institutions (Harvard, Berkeley, UCLA, Bocconi, Brunel). His experience and expertise permit the role of Advisor to the Greek Government, Pharma Associations in Greece (SfEE, PEF, PIF) and Europe (EFPIA), MedTech Firms (Roche, Siemens), global consultant trust (McKinsey, Deloitte, PwC) and business leaders from Europe.

Vassilis holds 3 Masters Degrees: (a) International Healthcare Management, Economics & Policy, (b) MBA, (c) MSc Telemedicine & E-Health Systems. He also holds an Accreditation on Value Based Health Care (VBHC) from Harvard Business School.
